The Washington Counties Insurance Fund (WCIF) is a
multi-employer non-profit trust fund that was formed in 1958 by the
Washington State Association of Counties to pool
the cost of employee benefits for counties and special purpose
districts throughout the state of Washington.
In 2001 the WCIF Board of Trustees voted to create a
self-insured medical plan to combat rising health care costs;
thus the Washington Counties Insurance Pool (WCIP) was formed.
Alongside the WCIP PPO plans, WCIF/WCIP offers a comprehensive
range of high-quality benefit selections including:
- Group Health HMO medical plans
- Washington Dental Service (WDS) dental plans
- Willamette Dental dental plans
- Vision Service Plan (VSP) vision plans
- The Standard life plans (including basic life and
voluntary options)
- The Standard disability plans (short term and long term)
- Magellan Health Services' Employee Assistance Program
- Unum Long Term Care plans
- Flexible Spending Account administration
WCIF's success over the past 50 years is self-evident as it
currently covers over 100 participating employers encompassing
30,000 enrollees.
