Services

The Washington Counties Insurance Fund staff is responsible for the administration of the WCIF, a private, non-profit employee benefits pool, and the WCIP, a public self-insured medical pool.  We serve on behalf of member counties and county sub-units of Washington State.  Our services include:

  • Interfacing with insurance carriers to assure efficiency and accuracy of operations.

  • Issuing compliance guidelines for state and federal mandates.

  • Administering COBRA and retiree benefits.

  • Processing premium payments and member eligibility updates.

  • Providing combined billing statements and web enrollment.

  • Reimbursing travel expenses for administrators' attendance at semi-annual training sessions.

  • Conducting benefit training for human resource and payroll staff.

  • Performing claims review, appeals and advocacy for employers and employees.

  • Conducting on-site open enrollment meetings and health fairs.

  • Producing "Benefit Helpline" instructional emails for human resource and payroll staff.

  • Coordinating the publication and distribution of coverage summaries, certificates and forms.

  • Maintaining website for communication of benefit provisions and other information.

  • Producing and distributing For Your Benefit, a wellness newsletter.

  • Sponsoring grants for employer-orchestrated wellness promotion programs.

  • Offering medical, dental and vision plans for retirees.
