Executive Director

John (Chip) Taylor

John (Chip) Taylor has worked in various roles in public policy and government relations, emphasizing county government, for more than three decades. He is an attorney and has been admitted to both the California and Colorado bars.

For over 25 years, Chip served Colorado Counties, Inc., Colorado’s statewide association of county commissioners, elevating the visibility and influence of counties in both regional and national organizations and including 8 years as CCI’s Executive Director. Chip also served from 2019 to 2022 as the Executive Director of County Technical Services, Inc. (CTSI). At CTSI, Chip was responsible for overseeing the operation of Colorado’s county insurance pools, including not only the County Health Pool but also the counties’ workers’ compensation and property and liability pools.

Among other hats he has worn, Chip has also served as a county administrator, a contract lobbyist for special districts, and as VP of a boutique public relations and communications firm. He earned his pilot’s license in 1986 and received both his bachelor’s degree and his law degree from Pepperdine University in California.

Chip and his wife, Erika, are avid travelers and actively engaged with Sister Cities programs, including providing educational opportunities and hosting several Mongolian exchange students, as well as participating in Sister Cities-sponsored travel to Takayama, Japan.

Chip continues to be a government and policy junkie but in his off time enjoys travelling, running, playing guitar and continuing to do all the snow sports his body allows!
